Five Coleg Sir Gâr players have been selected for the Wales U18s squad for the upcoming WRU South Africa tour this August.

Head coach Geraint Lewis has named Rhys Davies from Milford Haven, Daniel Davies from Llandeilo, Llyr Green from Glanamman, Lewis Ellis-Jones from Aberystwyth and Thomas Rogers from Pontyberem in the team.

Coleg Sir Gâr director of rugby, Euros Evans, is delighted to have such a large representation. “We are absolutely thrilled to have five players in the squad,” he said.  “This goes to show that the college rugby academy is providing a very good environment in which players can achieve their potential.”

The rugby academy is based in Llanelli and continues to strive for excellence being the first Llanelli Scarlets Academy Accredited Centre of Excellence in the region.

Evans added: “These players have worked extremely hard all year and fully deserve their opportunity to test themselves against some of the best under 18 rugby players in the world.”

In addition to facing South Africa and their A team, Wales U18s will also play a fixture against one of France, Italy or England. The games will take place across Cape Town on August 11, 15 and 20.
