Students are progressing to Welsh-medium university-level courses at Coleg Sir Gâr through scholarship incentives awarded by Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol.
Following hundreds of applications, successful students will receive funding over three years provided they are studying a specific percentage of their course through the medium of Welsh.
Elin Wynne Ward who is studying agriculture at Coleg Sir Gâr’s Gelli Aur campus, was awarded the main scholarship of £3,000 and will study over 60 per cent of her course through the medium of Welsh. Five other Coleg Sir Gâr students received the incentive scholarship of £1,500 to study agriculture and health and social care.
Gwyndaf Lewis, bilingual development activities coordinator at Coleg Sir Gâr said: “These scholarships provide an excellent incentive and opportunity for those who want to study in the medium of Welsh to progress their education in their preferred language.”
