King Street Gallery in Carmarthen is exhibiting the work of young people from Carmarthen and Llanelli schools who are taking part in an arts project at Carmarthen School of Art at Coleg Sir Gâr.
The exhibition is a culmination of work from 20 GCSE art students who take part in the college’s Criw Celf (Art Crew) Portfolio Project, which is funded by the Arts Council and delivered by college staff.
Criw Celf, which was originally devised by Gwynedd’s Council’s Community Arts Unit offers a programme of creative training to children who have shown a passion or talent for art.
Children from local schools, including Bro Myrddin, Queen Elizabeth High School, Bro Dinefwr and Ysgol Gyfun y Strade will be exhibiting their work from April 26 to May 3 with an opening event on Monday April 25, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.
Saron Jones-Hughes, project coordinator in art and design at Coleg Sir Gâr said: “Once a month, pupils come to our Carmarthen School of Art for specialist workshops with artists and designers and we’re delighted that King Street Gallery is supporting this culmination of work by the pupils.”
