An apprentice at Coleg Sir Gâr has been shortlisted as a finalist at the British Education Awards.
Calvin Evans works as a helpdesk administrator with the computer services team at the college and studies a HNC applied computing as part of his apprenticeship.
He has been nominated in the vocational category of the competition for receiving the highest grades in an extended diploma in computing course where he achieved the top grade of a triple star distinction. He also achieved a gold medal in the UK heat of a WorldSkills UK competition in the IT Support Technician category.
Calvin Evans said: “I am quite surprised, I did my best on my course but I didn’t expect to be nominated though it’s nice to have the effort you put in recognised.”
The presentation evening is taking place on January 31 at Hilton hotel, Manchester.
