Art and design students at Coleg Sir Gâr are exhibiting their work at National Botanic Garden of Wales as part of the garden’s Regency Restoration Project.

Students on the extended diploma programme, which is a pre-university level course, have responded to a brief set-out by the garden which asked them to cut, strip and create charcoal from the woods on their land to create artwork inspired by the garden’s landscape.

Saron Jones-Hughes, lecturer in art at Coleg Sir Gâr, said: “This is a wonderful live brief for the students who have experimented with charcoal in a number of ways to produce a range of work including traditional drawings, resist drawings, paintings, mixed media and fabric pieces.”

The exhibition is open from June 21 to July 3.
